Digital Photo Paintings

Our digital photo paintings all start with original digital photos taken during our travels. The photos highlight the places and objects that sparked joy for us and remind us of the rich cultures, traditions, and arts that made our travels memorable and enjoyable.

Using the latest digital painting tools, we mix our digital photos with colors, patterns, shapes and vintage objects to create original works of digital art.

We then print the original digital works of art to high-quality photo paper or gallery-quality canvas in a wide range of sizes.

Each digital photo painting is intended to be a respectful homage to the cultures, objects, and places that inspired each original art work.

Remixed Historical Prints

Our remixed historical prints start with high-resolution public domain artworks – some well-known, some more obscure.

Each piece of art is digitally restored and color enhanced before being “remixed.” Remixing can be as subtle as enhancing or changing colors but can also include removing elements, adding elements, or even creating elements in the original art style. We then print the remixes to high-quality photo paper or gallery-quality canvas in a wide range of sizes.

Sources for our remixed historical prints include Japanese woodblock prints, medieval European illuminated manuscripts, and zoological illustrations from the 18th and 19th centuries, among others.

Our remixed historical prints are available in various sizes on high-quality, gallery-wrapped canvas or archival paper.

History

Arcuri Nelson is a home-based small business that was founded in 2006 by Jenny and Slade Walters. The company name combines our maternal grandmothers’ maiden names.

For nearly a decade, we produced original illustrations and graphics for various small publishing and art projects while living in Japan, South Korea, and Germany and traveling the world. We visited more than 30 countries across Asia and Europe during that time.

In 2017, after returning to the U.S., we started creating original works of fine art inspired by our travels.

In 2021, Arcuri Nelson began exhibiting at craft markets and art fairs near where we were based in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. For three years, Arcuri Nelson could be found most weekends at markets across the island of O‘ahu.

In 2024, Arcuri Nelson relocated to Shenandoah Junction, Jefferson County, in West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle, where the locals like to say, “Almost Heaven begins,” a nod to the John Denver song Take Me Home, Country Roads. We are looking forward to an exciting future from our new homestead in this beautiful part of the world.
